Recurring Outreaches
Every year we organize Outreach events where we showcase our robot in interactive community-oriented events. These are the ones we go to every year.
National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW) STEAM Day:
As part of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s STEAM Day, we present to 4-8th grade girls and boys to inspire the next generation to explore science, technology, engineering, and math.
Lincoln STEAM Night:
At our local elementary school’s STEAM night, we host a robot demo where children get the chance learn about different STEAM topics through hands-on activities and experiments.
Hillsborough’s Memorial Day Parade:
At our local Memorial Day Parade, we host an interactive station where kids and families can play with our robot’s features. Through this event, we’re able to tell community members about our team and what robotics offers.
BIS Outreach:
Every spring, we present to 8th graders at our local middle school, a majority of which will continue to our school.
Open Sauce:
Open Sauce is an annual convention in the San Francisco Bay Area which gathers creators, engineers, and technology enthusiasts to showcase STEAM projects. At this festival, we speak with sponsors, attend creator panels, meet fellow exhibitors, and most notably, participate in the robotics exhibition. Here, we showcase our team to the greater community and increase attention towards FIRST robotics.
Lobster Cup:
Beginning in 2025, we’ve represented FRC at the FTC Lobster Cup, Northern California's biggest offseason FTC competition! We demo our robot, advertise our future events, and cheer on matches and alliance selection.
Burlingame on the Ave:
Burlingame on the Avenue is our community’s annual arts and music festival. With different groups in our community all exploring the street, we hold an interactive robot demonstration and spread the word of team to our town.
Back to School Night:
At our school’s Back to School Night, we get the opportunity to talk to parents about our school’s robotics program. This is a robot demonstration which allows us to reach many curious participants, simultaneously encouraging them to donate to or mentor the team.
WamJam:
WamJam is a community event hosted by our local elementary school’s PTA as a fundraiser for the School Art and Music Festival. Through this event, we reach many youth who may one day join our own robotics team, and foster the spirit of creating and interacting with new technology.
Tree Lighting:
Since 2015, we’ve brought our robot to our town’s annual tree lighting where we get to show off our robot to people of all ages. From the young children, ecstatic to interact with the robot, to the mayor themself, we enjoy the night of spreading STEAM curiosity while selling baked goods. Through this event, we get to share about our team while spreading a little bit of holiday cheer.
