Engineering

The engineering team designs all major mechanisms in the robot by using iterative design -- brainstorming and discussion, in-lab prototyping, criteria-based testing, and CAD software. Specifically, the team evaluates designs on a value versus effort metric, their durability, efficiency, and compatibility with other concepts.

Programming

Programming consists of a hardware and software component. The hardware– electrical engineering–team wires the robot electronics in an organized and accessible way for easy modifications and adjustments. The software team develops code in Java for the robot, working on both autonomous control and improving the driving experience and ease of use for the robot operators. Some of the programming tasks involve computer vision and autonomous path planning along with PID closed loop control.

Business

Business handles the non-technical aspects of the team, primarily outreach, finances, and media. While the media team is in charge of maintaining a public image, through photos, videos, the website, and social media, the finance sector writes grants, requests for sponsorships, and organizes fundraises. Outreach plans and hosts outreaches at community events and runs our Cub Central program.

Drive Team

Drive team consists of five people: two drivers, a drive coach, a technician, and a human player. In addition to being on their perspective sub-teams of engineering or programming, drive team puts in extra hours to make sure the robot is functioning properly before competition. As a result of their cooperation, the drive team has a strong friendship that allows them to successfully collaborate even under the stress of a match.
