This past weekend, the Iron Panthers competed in the Glendale event, closing out March with a rock-solid performance! Throughout the weekend, we unearthed challenges ranging from vehicular to technical, but in spite of this harnessed our strong spirit and perseverance to become event finalists! We’re proud to have been part of Alliance 1 with @frc6036 and @hypernovafrc. This competition was unique in many ways. As we don’t typically attend events in Southern California, Glendale allowed us to meet many new teams outside of our local area. We also were able to spend time with some of our alumni living nearby! Finally, throughout the event, we had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with the Korean Broadcasting System on a documentary about AI and STEM. Competing at our second district event of the season has officially qualified us for the NorCal DCMP. It’s been an eventful day of qualification matches at Glendale District Event! Though initially we experienced minor robot complications, we quickly bounced back, earning four consecutive SUPERCHARGED ranking points and setting the event high score with @frc6036 and rancho_reapers! Currently, we’re ranked 4th overall (with the 50th highest EPA in the US!!) and can’t wait for what tomorrow’s matches bring. Outside of matches, our members made great use of their free time through presenting to awards judges, sharing ideas with other teams, and bonding over snacks. Student Spotlight #2: Drive Team Meet our drive team, the most iconic quintet on the Iron Panthers: Sonali, Kyle, Jacob, Robbie, and Nathan! They are a crucial cornerstone of the team, as they put in countless hours of practice time to guarantee success at competitions. Outside of matches, you'll often spot them in their signature pose, placing their left hand over their right (see slides 5 & 6). At Silicon Valley District Event this weekend, we competed our #REBUILT robot Jukebox at its first official event of the season! After qualification matches, we placed 6th and “alloyed” with three amazing teams to form a truly metallic Alliance 3—thanks to our alliance partners @ironclaw972, @tko1351, and @bearium5499! Outside of matches, members had a great time exploring the venue, interacting with other teams, and handing out our custom-made cat ears. We even had the chance to celebrate Pi Day with an assortment of pies for lunch!
