Week 4: Improving Cargo Intake

Engineers created a functional intake, but still needed to improve durability through metal side plates. They also found the maximum angular velocity of the robot. Programmers developed potential algorithms for the robot to determine the positioning of objects relative to it.

Week 3: Installing Cameras

We created roller castings by adding an additional roller using compliant wheels. We continued to adjust elements from cargo intake, and set up and tested cameras on the drive base. We also sed light sensors to test the success of adding additional analog ports, which was a success.

Week 2: Finalizing Prototyping/Design

The engineers prototyped a cargo intake using a roller, and created their first drivebase with functioning driving capabilities. Meanwhile, programmers devised a successful algorithm for straight driving using line follower, and the electrical engineers began the e-board’s second draft design.

Week 1: Prototyping/Design Stage

While one group broke off into groups to begin creating different prototypes for cargo, hatch, and climb, another group looks to finalize the drivebase design in order to make it adjustable in the future. We also make various prototypes in order to make different ways to accomplish the task and begin to create a new carriage and cargo holder. We continue to make a hatch mechanism that has wheels and can grip inside the hatch.

Kickoff Weekend

Saturday - The team watched the robotics reveal and learned the rules of Deep Space with team 4904: Bot Provoking. We began formulating strategies for the game.

Sunday - Our team continued strategizing and itemizing each game component in terms of VALUE and EFFORT using the fibonacci sequence. We then set our course of action for the build season and began preliminary design planning.
